I'm looking to buy a cheap run around to keep the miles off my T350, now I'm currently insured on limited mileage (6000p/y) and it cost me £800 quid fully comp. I have 5 years no claims and 6pts.

I looked at a megane on a x plate. The car cost £1500 quid.

My current insurer Privelage have told me because i'm using my no claims on my current car I cant on my second. This means if I was to insure my second car. Once again on limted mileage (6000p/y) FOR THIRD PARTY FIRE AND THEFT it would cost £1200.... That cant be right.

Anybody got experiences or ways round this problem.

I went on Confused.com and was getting simular quotes!

Quite a few companies will mirror your no claims. I'm with Adrian Flux, and I'm sure others will be along soon with other suggestions.

Not the same experience, but I have had issues with Privelage. They kindly cancelled my insurance on my car and wrote me a letter to tell me. By the time the letter arrived, my car had been uninsured for two days rolleyes

I have three cars and I use my no claims on all of them. They are all with different companies this year, but two of them weren't last year etc. etc.

Suppose what I'm saying is, just try another insurance company, because maybe Privelage have some funny ideas......Good luck

I had a Peugeot 306 insured with NU Direct on a 5 years+ NCB...when I bought my 450 Chim, 2 months ago, I initially asked for quotes to insure it by transferring the NCB from the Peugeot......HOWEVER...in the end I insured the Chim with Admiral because as I also agreed to insure the Peugeot with them (for cheaper than NU Direct) they gave me a 'complimentary' 5 years NCB Chim (made the Chim fully comp ins with 6000 mile limit = £408.00).

Odd, I didn't think the no claims really came into it with limited miles 2nd car policies. Sure they asked about any accidents when I rang for the quote but the NCD in place did not really come into it. For me my no claims is on the main family car and the Tiv does not have any or indeed build any up. Try getting quotes for switching your main policy to the Megane with your no claims on it and remove the restricted mileage, then call up Adrian Flux or similar and get a quote for a fresh limited miles policy as a 2nd car only.

You can only apply the NCD earned on one car to one car. My daily runabout has earned me 6 years NCD, and I can only apply that discount to that daily runner.

Fortunately I had built up 7 years NCD on the Caterham by the time I sold it in Sept 05. A-plan, easily the best quote I received for the Cerb, honoured them (they say you can keep them for up to 2 years) and gave me a quote for £800 including the DD arrangement.

Have you tried Sunninghill 0870 7878022. Speak to Malcolm Wallace.

May be able to assist - I have three cars insured with them.

We've got mirrored NCB from AON. I think we pay just under £400 for a Nissan Sunny 2.0 GTi, mirroring my wife's full NCB on her MG ZR.

We use AON as they do classic car insurance, and are good for our MX5. Give them a call; 01384 552700.

Ive got the Griff insured with Classic Line who also used to cover my 535 BMW workhorse.

This time around I tried A Plan for the BMW & they came up with a superb price, well worth a try.

£270 with hagerty as second car - chim 450,

astra 1.6 daily hack - best I could find was £750 - full no claims and no points but sticking my newly driving 19 yr old on the cover bumped it up by £500
