I had my fuel pipe changed last service as the original had become brittle (it's T-Reg so not even that old)yikes

Apparently it's quite a common cause of engine fires. Maybe this is a timely warning for others' to get theirs checked at service time...

What's with the whinging about calling it a Chimp? Fairly standard expression for the car around Blackpool. Certainly Ive always called them Chimps as have a lot of the car nuts I grew up with back home.

yes mine perished, and spat fuel all over a hot fuel bay... fortunetly it didnt catch fire....

they tend to go at the engine bay end due to the heat.. mine was about 5 years old when it happened...

so yes they need checking every service, and they are a git to change

I drive a Chimaera or Chim for short.

However common usage is often very different to the abbreviated or acronym for the same. Hence how some very odd nicknames indeed crop up from time to time.

Let whoever wants to call it a chim call it a chim and those who want to call it a chimp can call it a chimp, as long as we all know what we're on about, as even the first pedant proved. He knew what the OP was on about, he / she just wanted to force their will on the poster.

Lets drop the anal pedantry and play nicely.

I am Sooo.... sorry for calling them CHIMPS like some CHIMPowners refer to their own cars, its common for Porsche's to be called porkers (no K in Porsche )& I cant recall any Porsche owner complaining , remember the Porsche v TVR shoot out called the Pork v Beef , were there any problems with it being called that ?
Jeeess... some of you guys are touchy , maybe its a TVR thing brought on by being so nervous about driving your cars for fear of bits falling off or them breaking down biglaugh

now running for cover remembering not to bother trying to help any chimp owners in the future, put a match to them all instead

Don't worry mate, they're a touchy bunch. I guess it's 'cos they really wanted a Griff but were worried about getting two sets of golf clubs in the boot!

confused

Never wanted a Griff otherwise I would of bought one!!
I've already got the chest hair but I'd need a medalion to truely be a Griff owner which doesn't float my boat.

Think you best talk to Burriana about golf and how many sets he got in his griff as I and many other Chim owners dont play the game
