hello all, project req...
Discussion
Just thought i would pop my head round the door and introduce me self
I've just bought my own place after years of co-habiting and it has a lovely empty garage...
Now im looking for an interesting 'garage filler'!
I've had some experience with a 1275GT restored from scratch and a 970 S that sadly got sold on and a 1293 rally machine exported to Japan.
But after a time I got bored and bought TVR's and then bikes but now i will have time to do what I want and I had to sell the expensive stuff I need a project!!
Pref rust free and old (no tax) but not adverse to clubmen and am thinking of doing a conversion to honda power so no concours stuff please
anyhoo if you any free mini's to give away
pt313 'at' hotmail 'dot' com
many thanks
Paul

i dont realy know of any cheep ones
me and my brother sold our mini mayfair for £400 it had a 998cc i think and we stripped the engine bay out an ready for the engine to be put in
it would have made an ideal project.
we didnt have the or money at the time due to being a students.
we thought of getting a roll in roll out conversion so we didnt have to do it but thats half the fun doing it yourself and you would apreceate it more,
if you type in mini project in ebay there should be about 6 and one has a bit of rust but is only £300 buy it now price

its a BMW motor bike head on an 'A' series engine. either 8v or 16v will fit.
this seems to be the latest mod doing the rounds of the tuning companies at the mo, and seems to be pretty good so far.

LM - Please let us know how you get on with the "K" BMW Bike Head conversion. Be very interested to see the power and torque curves when you've had it set-up.
If it produces decent torque you should be able to run it with a leggy FD? Should make for a really interesting conversion and even more of a Q-Car as it all goes under the standard round nose bonnet line if I understand everything right?

are you buying the specialised components kit? it looks quite well thought out and the owner has got one going (apparently)
or are you gonna try and do the whole thing your self? - ive got a 8v one half finished, just needs more cash and thinking.....

Yep, I can't be arsed to make it myself. Should be about £1000 all in (ish) which depends on my gearbox autopsy and seeing how great my 1380 bores are. I think it is going to be a bit longer and a bit more expensive than that as I suspect they are knackered. I will make my own exhaust manifold though. Hopefully get a few quid for the head I have on there Also need to get my alloy flywheel's friction surfaces replaced It will cost a few quid, hopefully have the bits for it by the end of the month and a leisurely build. Bearing in mind that it seems to work better with expensive cams. I have figured that with 11cc pistons and a 1.5mm head gasket, (28cc chambers) you are looking at a good compression ratio to take a bit of boost. Also using an RS exhaust and LT inlet cam. This saves on custom grinds and I suppose to get the most out of it, you should have a silly crank and associated high RPM stuff which I'm not prepared to go for. Will see what will happen when I have the bits on the garage floor. Have my old bini blower and nice bottom end still...
