Hello everyone,

I have a 2003 996 x50 with a standard radio system, (no NAV) which has been giving me problems for the past year or so. The stereo will sometimes just stop playing music all together and no inputs seem to work. After shutting down the car for several minutes or sometimes hours, the problem self corrects but then all the sound settings (ie bass, treble) get reset to 0. The dealer swapped out the stereo once already and on the second attempt, they changed the amp and stereo again and I am still having the same problem.

Has anyone else experienced this and what can I do to remedy this problem?

used to have this on my CDR-32, dealer could never find a fix as it was very intermittent and the problem seemed to just disappear.

doesn't help much I'm afraid

Just went to the dealer today. They say it might be the PCM???
Still no good leads as to why the stereo seems to stop working.

Switch off the stereo, lower the windows, drop a gear........problem solved.
