I have been in the market for the right black/black 996 TT manual for a while... always assuming that coupes are the way to go. I owned a 997 C2S coupe and a cab and preferred the coupe - but that might have been because it was my first porker?

With the price of 2004 Turbo cabs with 15k - 30k miles now dropping to £60k at OPCs (after a bit of negotiation) - is it madness to go for a cab? They typically hold their value a little better aswell... and that just looks like great value. Autotrader has a 53 plate X50 cab with 25k miles (in Silver, yawn and no good for me) at £60k before negotiation from a dealer (non-OPC).

I expected 996 TT prices to stabilise after a meteoric fall over the last 18 months, but they still seem to be falling hard. To raise an old debate... cab or coupe?

P.S. I won't raise the tip/man debate... I'm sold on manual despite being a Londoner ;-).

agreed have seen some amazing deals on TT cabs, some cheaper than equivalent coupes which is bizarre. Think there is less demand.

As you asked coupe all the way for me, 911 cabs have always looked wrong, ruin the 911 shape (and this is particularly the case with turbos or other cars with rear wings). Also TT cabs have an odd image IMO - I put this down to, all cabs are accused over being posers cars (which is stupid) but somehow a turbo cab says "poser with the most money". Not really a drivers car IMVHO and hence most are tips.

996 TT cabs have a beautiful shape had a techart car in a few months back and it was black with black tinted windows, tubi and short shifter ....beautiful looking car.

There was alot of cabin shake on the motor way and that ruined it for me....bet you cant have everything.

Cab for fun and posing....coupe for track use...

i doubt you could drive it hard enough on the uk roads to notice any difference between the 2..

I would in this case opt for a Cab !!
