Anywhere with a Manfrotto sale?
Discussion
Just about to buy a tripod (everyone laughs at the one I use) - and I know it's sale time, but is there a sale anywhere that sells Manfrotto kit?
I tried Je55ops (who have a mega sale) but they say "Nothing was found matching your search criteria - just buy our cheap cr@p instead" (OK I lied about the last bit)
Thoughts? or shall I just go to Warehouse?
(055prob & 410 geared head for £250)

I had a look around this time last year for mine and ended up going to Warehouse Express tbh. It's not really the kind of product that needs selling - people go looking for them cos they know what they want, rather than choose one after browsing, if you follow me.
Only got a 3way head though myself. I might have to upgrade to a ball sooon

Oh another thing that might be worth considering is that the plastic on the screw for the centre column isn't the sturdiest in the world. Mine cracked a few months ago and WE said they'd be happy to replace the part on my behalf.
Sure you could get the same from Manfrotto direct, but just easier to deal with the vendor I find. Not gonna get that via an ebay purchase.

Can I just put in a word for the carbon wonder that I bought?
You can, but what exactly is it and where's it from?
Thanks
Stuart
It's called a Qentis STC-01, and it came from eBay (seller: plus44uk).
Qentis used to be Austria's eBay powerseller, and they would commission well-known manufacturers to produce wares under the Qentis brand, such as bikes, tripods and suchlike, which would be sold on eBay. Unfortunately (although some would argue fortunately for us), they went bust, and the products were sold off cheaper by the liquidators.
This tripod (original maker unknown) was supposedly £129 when sold by Qentis - I cannot verify this, however, it's a darn good tripod for £35.
Cheers,
Iain

I've got an 055CLB and 410 geared head (thanks to Gravy for the advice) and have never regretted getting them...top kit.
I went to the importer as the warehose is in my town (Uxbridge) so saved a few quid too. Happy days
Martin.
Meh, Gravy knows nothing, Gitzo are where it's at
With a nice Arca-Swiss head

Another bargain suggestion - if you ever want a ball head for your tripod, there's some nice "Benro" ones that come up from time to time on ebay.
On the left is my Markins M10 (very nice, but not cheap) and on the right my son's Benro (£55 buy-it-now about 3 weeks ago):
Benro also make Chinese copies of Gitzo tripods, but I don't know how good they are. The ball head is good value and compatible with the standard Arca-Swiss style quick release shoes after you remove the Benro safety catch (it just unscrews with an allen key).

(I like the 055PROB by the way, although I have replaced the standard centre column with a short one).

Thanks bulb***.
Just bagged myself a 190 Prob with the new 802rc head and the mag70 bag.
Good price actually and hopefully rather a lot better than my velbon wobblepod!
Personally I think that
This one... is a better bet than the 055 as its a lot lighter and smaller but still extends the same and is plenty sturdy enough for an slr and 70-200 f2.8
