DVDFab Platinum....sound & picture sync problems...

After successfullly putting a early 80`s british rallying DVD onto my hard drive in AVI played back on Windows Media player...It appears the video picture is running twice as fast as it should although the sound is fine...any idea whats up...?
The donor DVD was recorded on a DVD recorder which has HQ,SP,LP...settings...it was recorded in SP...perhaps this has something to do with it..?
Perhaps someone could do something with it to slow down the video speed without changing the sound...it`s a 700MB file so it can be emailed..?
