Just replaced all four tyres on my 997 - rear puncture so both rears had to be changed and the fronts were looking worn so thought I'd do them as well.

Cost a fortune so got me thinking about tyre insurance. I understand OPC have stopped offering this (got my car in Feb and was not offered it) but is it available elsewhere? Anyone have any details:

- Approx cost for a year?
- What is covered - eg. if I have a rear puncture does the insurance cover replacing both rear tyres?
- What if I want to swap to another make/model tyre?
- Do I have to use their fitters or will they cover me using my local fitters?
- What if I have a puncture abroad?
- Who provides the cover?
- etc etc

Anyone have it/used it? Is it a total gimmick or worth having?

Cheers - Erik

Seems too good to be true.

The small print says that the 2nd tyre on the same axle (as the one punctured) is only covered for the difference in wear between the replaced one and the existing one. It is not covered by default - i.e. you can't replace both to keep them "even."

If this is genuine it could save me a fortune.... I'm forever running over crap in the road and buggering my conti sports just after replacement... Not nice

Anyone taken this out and had to claim?

I can see why you're looking for someone who's had a claim. There are so many potential exclusions and the English small print is often badly worded that it's hard to get a real idea of how good it would be. But depending on how much the tyres cost, 4 euros is amazing value for any tyres you'd fit to a Porsche.

1st year - you only get 75%
2nd year - you only get 50%

Maybe try and see if you can get any feedback on the garages that they list for fitting them in your area, just to give you an idea of who they deal with. Or call the fitting garages up and see if they've been involved in any claims.
