Just a thought for Christmas. You can't start a Cayman without depressing the clutch. So far so good. Well, you wouldn't do that anyway, puts unnecessary stress on the starter motor. But why make it obligatory? Are Porsche just promoting good practice? How thoughtful and selfless. Selfless? Porsche? Or are they protecting a component that has been lightened to the extent that it wouldn't take the abuse? scratchchin

Most likely the result of Law suits from Americans where they have started their cars in garages and gone straight through a wall.

It is a guess - but the auto-window up feature in the passenger side door stopped around 2003 on New Porsches due to US legislation...

Just a guess.
