Righto, the time has come to move from my point and click to what websites call a prosumer camera....the next step before I go for something like a Canon EOS SLR (only time I'll be able to say Im buying an SLR laugh)

Ive just picked up a Fuji Finepix S5600 which although it isnt top of the range, I like it and cant wait to get to grips with the thing.

I cant at the moment as its a xmas present (damn it)

Id like to ask a few question of you chaps who know your stuff:

I would like to purchase some accessories so I can really get into photography, but there is so many accessories available, I dont know what half of them do

Things like 55-58mm adapter tubes, filters, wide angle macro attachments, telephoto etc etc

anything thats available I would like information on

If anyone could point me towards the light I would be most appreciative

Thanks fellas

Hi

Well the Fuji Finepix S5600 is described as an 'SLR-style' camera. I'm asuming that means it can't change lenses? Also probably doesn't have the facility to fit filters to the lens?

If it can't then I suggest a tripod and spare battery.. If it can then the world is your proverbial (and you'll end up spending a lot more money).

Good luck and happy shooting.

It has a threaded lans barrel and the ability to attach a variety of different attachments and gizmos

Its basically a low end SLR...for people like me moving up through the ranks and for who the point and shoot is good, but not indepth enough

You can get a few different 'add on' lenses for the Fuji S range. I've got the S5000 and picked up a 2x tele lens and some filters. You can also get a wide angle lens and fisheye lens for them too.

Despite getting the D50 a while ago, I still use my Fuji S5000 quite a lot as it gives really good quality pictures.

Just to say I picked up an S5600 at the weekend (after some confusion with Argos about stock levels!) and from the very few shots I have had the chance to take, time and the included 16meg card being the limiting factors, its great, looking forward to experimenting and am also interested in accessory advice

congratulations

I tried worming Currys into price checking and giving it to me for less than the asking price, little did I know the rival shops item needs to be in stock at the time!

I had the same thing in PC World, wouldnt match unless in stock elsewhere.
Annoyingly Currys would have matched it either way, but couldnt find any in their store!
In the end I found it in a local Argos online and reserved it. Would recommend checked everyone day, usually in the evening.
Good luck!

ETA just re-read your post and you've already got! Oops! Never mind, its a few quid and it is a great camera

I've had the Fuji about 18 months or so. It's been everywhere with me and I've had some really really great shots with it. I couldn't go from DSLR to using one as my main camera though!

I got my 2x tele lens from ebay. Can't remember who it was now as it was a long time ago. I also got a set of close up filters/lenses which also came from a chap on ebay. *edit* pics are backed up on disc somewhere. Doh!
