Evening all!

Just got back from a weekend in Brighton, parked up the Chimaera and locked up as normal only this time, the alarm beeped at me... all doors shut correctly, boot etc... anyway the alarm keeps going off now - no reason for this that I can see. I've tried unlocking, opening/shutting doors etc but nothing seems to stop this beeping, and then the alarm...

Please help - as I can't keep on going out all night!!!

Having searched, I think disconnecting the negative for 5-10 seconds may do the trick... we shall see...

What a pain...

Hi Mate,

Have had alarm probs in the past and an alarm guy told me that moisture in the siren or door sensors can be a pain. It's been foul this weekend and spray could have gotten itself in somewhere. Have a gander under the bonnet. Is your siren low down and to the front of engine bay? Mine is and can be a bit prone to water ingress. Good luck.

If its anything like the Griff (can't remember from my Chimaera) the siren will run into the inner wing via a big rubber grommet, behind this is a multi-plug from which you can disconnect the siren (it will still go for for a few hours as it has a battery backup. The immobilser etc will still work fine, its just the siren circuit board is corroding. You can sometimes pick up a new siren from ebay (make sure its the right model number)

or just thought of another possible. At the base of the door where the pin switch is there should be a little pad on the door itself that pushes the pin when the door is closed, sometimes these fall off and then the pin doesn't get pushed in and the alarm thinks the door is still open

has the door pad got something other than just a screw in it? There is the obvious place for this, but no 'pad' inside the place... on either side...

Still beeping... grr

If you're not sure the door switches are being pressed in (the plunging switches mounted on the sills) then try taping them down before you close the doors.

There should be a rubber or foam pad stuck to the door which presses on these switches - no screw on mine.

Yeap, normally there is a little rubber pad sitting over the screw. Just tape something across it for now to test. My Chimaera had both pads missing but it worked ok, but my Griff has both pads in place

Ah balls... I found some ideal rubber pads, stuck them on and still no change...

Sod it - I'm going to have more whisky and worry about it in the morning! Perhaps she'll have cured herself by then!!

Thanks for helping though, will see what tomorrow brings!

Check to see if you have a bonnet pin switch, that is not making contact?( located at bonnet catch)

One way to check that the switches are working OK is to check the interior light goes out (remember it has a delay)

I am pretty sure the alarm beeps if you try and arm it and a door is still open. I would check for you but my Griff is all snug in its Carcoon at the moment

Morning all!

She behaved all night, until 4:19am... and then started shouting again....!!

Right - a new day and all that, will have a look at the bonnet again, that may well be the thing. THe interior light has never worked so I can't check if there's something there, but the bonnet may be the thing, as I was showing off the lump yesterday morning (under the bonnet that is!)

Fingers crossed!

beer clap

Thanks guys - all sorted now - I checked the hood and there it was, not quite wedged into the catch as mentioned!

So she's stopped beeping, and all is well again!

Thank f**k for that, I could just see another whopping bill coming for the smallest of little problems! Now I can bash the cash on Xmas beer instead!

Thanks again guys, much relief here now!

Tom my alarm bleeps 4 time if the door switches are not made.

I am not aware of any switches under the bonnet asuming you have a Metta alarm.

If all else fails then you will need to talk to the Alarm Guru bow Carl Baker bow

Some one on hear with the knowledge will kindly place a link to him please.

Cheers

Pasco

Edit to say fair enough Tom thought you had a Griff

Yep - it beeped 4 times. I have checked by leaving a door ajar and trying, and the same is true. So there must be some kind of switch under the bonnet or in the catch, as that was the problem.

Typical really, as I'd spent the afternoon at a mates house saying how reliable she was - only for an evening of stress over a little tiny thing! For the 1st time since I've owned her, my Chimaera turned into the little monkey - the Chimp. I me the Chump. But now we're all friends again, and I still love her! And that'll be the last time I call her a Chimp... just for the record!

Still, all sorted now, you live and learn eh!?
