Does this look like a picture of a ghost bird?

Not really a ghost, but the imprint of a small wood pidgeon that hit our patio door... the bird was ok, shook itself off and flew away... Next immage shows it more clearly.

That second one is great - I can't believe the detail from the wing - was it really ok? Must have been fair giving it some to leave that kind of mark.

Talking of ghostly images - here's one a friend of mine took in what had once been an insane asylum in Sunderland so he tells me.

I wonder how this effect was achieved?

Fot the bird pic, I have a similar one of an owl I'll post when I can find it. For the 'ghost' pic, isn't it a simple case of a long exposure where everyone stays incredibly apart from the 'ghost' which moves off fairly sharpish?

We get quite a few of those marks on our window in springtime. Unfortunately some of the incidents are fatal.

Some people stick bird silhouettes on windows to help the birds see the glass (see the RSPB site). We just draw the curtains on one side of the conservatory so the birds don't think they can fly through it.
