oil pressure a bit high
Discussion
been out in the can-am today ,warmed it up well before i went out and while on my run i noticed that my oil pressure was a bit higher than normal , it reads about 4.5 bar ish when hot normaly but today read 5 bar+ when i reved it over 4000 ,just wondered if anyone had noticed the same , engine builder recons its the cold air cooling oil more than in the summer ??? not sure . simon
Hello Simon, I don't have a wet sump so can not speak from personal experience but I would not think that the cold weather would make an awful lot of difference once the engine is up to operating temperature as this will be static despite the climate outside of the motor. Could be the relief spring in the pump has maybe work hardened a little or the plunger/piston engorged a little possibly, or a combination? A blockage in an oil way but I would have thought that unlikely. I would monitor the situation and if the pressure were to rise more than another 5 PSI then change the pump. If it does not solve the problem at least it can be eradicated from the list of suspects.
Hi Wayne , going to take it for a good run this weekened have checked everything out and it all looks normal ,was going to service it before the spring so will not worry about it to much at the moment first time i've run it over the winter so we are noticing a few things that are a bit odd !!!! no grip for starters

Fixed it loose wire on the sender !!!! must have been loose for a while as the plastic nut had gone ....ha ha wire just hanging on ...sorry must pay more attension to her ,enjoyed the run out in the sun but holy crap the roads are sh1t going to keep her safe until spring i think, scared me abit !!!!!
