993 Turbo Question
Discussion
Hi guys!
This isn't my usual posting ground (as you could probably tell from my name), but I wasnt wondering if you could help settle a friendly debate I've been having with a friend.
I have a friend who says the 993 Turbo had an automatic transmission mission option.
I believe he is wrong, that is only came in a (?6sp) manual. The 996 was the first turbo to be offered with an auto transmission option. So who is right?
Thanks!
Darren

Manual only, no tiptronic on the 993 turbo

993 turbo only ever with a manual gearbox, though as Alan has pointed out RUF did offer an alternative (not an automatic though). RUF's *option* was something called EKS, which basically means Electronic Clutch System (but in german
), so you still have the same manual 6 speed 'box but you lose the clutch pedal (there is an actuator which works the clutch for you, and an ecu which decides how and when to do this).
