Instrument binnacle

I've decided I'd like the instrument binnacle/cowl in front of the steering wheel for my GTR..I've seen several done (inc LuckyP's great example)

How have people fabricated these? or can something suitable be bought off the shelf?

I used MK4 Escort stalks + CNC machined Ally. at moment getting centre made in carbon fibre if it works out will be able to supply see www.ultima-build.co.uk/Images/dash1.jpg

What instruments do you want to fit in. If you are going to use a Stack dash then the factory can supply a pod.

Going to use standard 80mm diameter speedo + revs and looking for a hemispherical style (!) pod. May be able to fabricate my own from glassfibre layed over preformed shape..sounds like a lot of hassle though...

Yes it was!

Mine overlayed on a solid foam buck, sanded then finished with leather. Front face is C/F tucked into the returned leather edge.

If you do go for it, please design it with wheel in so that the get the curves to match and knuckle clearance can be checked.

Form will follow function.

Thanks for that Pete, I'd thought pretty much down the same lines..but it'll be worth it! Bizzarely, I'd also seen a plastic waste paper basket that seemed the ideal shape and size to be cut down to fit...but I don't think I could live with the thought of it..or the riddicule I'd receive !

Hmm....not so keen on that..sounds like a good idea for alternative sidescoops though..teflon coated to take the heat too!

Sounds like a rubbish idea to me.
