Just thought I would post a quick note.
Have been out doing some vehicle winter testing and had to put some different tyres onto the vehicle due to the bad weather conditions. The tyres of choice at the outlet were a brand called Nokian (Finish make I think), hadn't heard of them before but had nothing to loose. The vehicle was an early prototype, so no ABS, traction control etc etc 300hp and RWD.

Well what can I say, they were absolutely fantastic and rated upto 165mph. The tyres were not full winter but intermediates so good for snow, ice and damp slippery stuff.

Am now up in Nothern Canada with them still on the car, even in fresh snow on the roads the traction is great and the car feels very stable you can play with the back end if you want if not it stays well planted.

So if any body is thinking of doing a spot of winter driving over to the continent and wondering what to use these come with a high recommendation. Not sure where they can be bought in the UK but should be easy to find out.

'Summer' tyres begin to loose some of their grip at 7C ambient and the temperature of the tyre itself has little effect on this. There is limited call for winter tyres in Britain but it the lower grip is something to bear in mind.
