What thread type are the majority of bolts and nuts that hold a mini together? I want to buy a stock of various sizes to replace the rusty/corroded ones on my mini collection. Any preference for stainless or plated?

UNF (Unified fine) and UNC (Unified Coarse). As a rule of thumb, where fixings screw into threads in Aluminium castings UNC is used.

Some of the later Mini's used a mix of UNF/UNC and some metric.

Stainless fixngs generally are preferred (if cost isn't an issue) but be careful with bolts tensile strength requirements e.g suspension components & seatbelt mounts.
