Paint question.

according to the FHVBC cellulose will be available for "historic cars" as will 2K, however just order the required amount of, say , MGB Tartan Red in cellulose or 2K to paint your "boat" and its legal to buy, use and be supplied. Work that out!! Welcome to Blairs Britain, where if you dare to work, and dare to have "working mans aspirations and hobbies" we'll F@*$ you every which way. Be a lazy do good waster and we'll give you a house and cash.
It's a load of EU B
s that our limp wimps have deemed to apply with out thought. Water based can be sprayed at home, with a bit of prep, you need a warm flow of air over the "wet" paint to help it cure, so that means hot sunny day, heater in garage and a fan. Sure It'll be more challenging in winter (more heaters!!) and you need to use de ionised water.
its no big deal, its just the usual press hysterics to sell some magazines IMHO. WB is not as durable as 2K from what I've been told, more akin to cellulose in that respect.
I believe 2k laquer will still be available for the forseeable future.
Of course, the above may just be my interpretation of the several magazine articles I have just read, whilst under the influence of red winr and polyester resin fumes!!hic

Skye Diver, just search on Ebay, paint is dirt cheap on there, or hunt out a decent Marine outlet, the leisure industry, i.e. boats is not affected, just automotive!! I think a lot of the hype is media hysteria, as usual, the prophesies of doom sell papers and magazines. You'll still be able to get 2K lacquer though as the waterbased stuff isn't up to the job yet. Demand will dictate the paint manufacturers develop faster curing and more durable WB products in time. I wouldnt lose any sleep over it.
just my very humble and probably ill informed opinion!!
