Probably stolen to enable someone to complete their own rally Mini or to strip for parts. Everything on that car is to full international rally spec and it really does go - I've driven it at a group test day and it was almost as quick as mine on the handling course!!
A lovely car and quite irreplaceable with its long list of competition successes.
What sacriledge it would be to break it up to sell for the parts. But the, when did those sort of scroats have any soul?

i think its because dvla know that if they scratch the surface on this it would never end, from people selling crap like this on ebay, to car clubs validating so called 'ex works' cars for their mates to get the (valuable) log books back.

the stories ive heard about stuff like this is mind boggling

makes my blood boil!

i think petes car will end up getting stripped for its bits, it will be unsellable as a full unit and easily recognisable even if some fool screwed a new set of plates to it.

Ok, let's have a list of bits to look out for. There has to be some odd stuff on it. I'd spot my car in boxes

I've stuck a post on the Mini7 Forum to keep an eye out for either the whole car or any suspicious bits. I hope it turns up.

My family has been on the wrong end of the these pondlife scum. My mums Black Mini thirty disappeared from the car park at her work years back, complete with home brew Walnut dash (a Beauty made by my own fair hand!). I'd have recognised that dash anywhere.

Alas..... nothing ever surfaced and I'm sure it would have broken for the mint half leather interior alone. Makes my p!ss boil.

My guess is that somewhere out there a Cooper is being restored and prepared for rallying. The bits will just be transferred over. Just imagine trying to identify a s/c c/r gearbox, s/c drop gears, a 4-pin diff, oil cooler, twin carbs, navigation equipment, etc, etc. The best hope is that sheer greed will mean to thieves offer some bits for sale and that these are identifiable in some way.
Let's all keep our ears to the ground on this one.

A few years ago there was a group of people in the Kent area who were stealing lots of minis, apparently the police found a lockup with over 30 minis in it all stripped for certain parts, they even stole cars from the local main dealer but it seemed they were just stealing for special parts to put on their cars though, didn't seem to be selling them.
