What is the best method of removing the centre cover from the steering wheel or is it best left for the dealer to remove with the risk of the airbag

I've had a quick look and it appears quite stiff to remove. I have a genuine Carbon replacement to put in its place with the multi function buttons (triangular shape).

Had the steering wheel on my 996 changed from the standard 4 spoke to a 3 spoke just after I got the car. Wasn't prepared to mess with it myself coz of the airbag. Took it to Autostrasse, my local independent. Old one took some getting off as was bolted on well tight, so took approx 15 mins to change, cost £25. Well worth it for peace of mind !

Thanks for your advice.

Did you retain your existing airbag and used it in your new steering wheel ?

No. Airbag for 3 spoke different shape to 4 spoke!
