6x10 Ultralite problem
Discussion
then your in trouble, because they have the big outer rim section it puts the tyre well neare the middle of the wheel making it very hard for the tyre to drop into said well and then try stretch over the outer bead on the opposite side of the wheel,
ive heard some tales about it being a real pig to do, so much so as you are experiencing your average tyre shop wont touch them as it involves a lot of forcing of tyre, and risk of damage, your best bet is to find a tyre place that hasd mounted a lot of 10" slicks, at least they may not be afraid to give it the heave ho thats needed,
sorry to put it bluntly, you should have bough some force racing split rims in 6" wide, much morer expensive but you wouldn't be having this hassle, wink wink.

i think the saying is 'pay cheap, pay twice'
why do you think none of the decent spares suppliers sell the ultralite brand?

Don't they?????

But then you could argue that that supplier isn't 'decent'.
I wouldn't necessarily class them as cheap in fairness, just a damn right pain in the arse.
Carl thanks for your input, vey informative - Any more constructive advice out there? I'm not looking for any other 'i told you so' slaps on the wrist.

fair point, i apologise, there is nothing wrong with minisport, they are a decent, long established parts supplier that i have no problems with.
however, i stand by my coments about ultalites.
if you want a constructive, non told you so answer, here goes.
1)ring the people you bought the wheels from
2)explain the problems you have
3)get fitting instructions from them
4)at worse, take the wheels and tyres back to them and get them to fit them.
5)problem solved
cheap doesnt indicate the price, it can also be used to define quality or design, sorry if this offends your sensabilities
I like the Force racing wheels, where could i get them from? (Carl)
I'm un decided weather to remove my std arches and run without any. Like the look of Guru's car.
Or go for wide rims again and fit more period arches!
What other options do i have with S disc's and no arches?
1275GT rims
Coopers S non reverse rims
Do mini spares still do minilight's with S offset? (minilife's)

I don't think it's a problem with the manufacturers, when I fitted tyres to my 6x10 revolutions they had to be mounted upside down on the fitting machine as well, rims with a large dish often need the tyres fitted like this, the old rostyle wheels that were fitted to Vauxhalls had the same problem, turn the wheel upside down and the tyre doesn't have to go over the dish.
