Le Mans virgin...

Hey
This might sound a silly question, but how would i go about sorting out a trip to Le Mans? Few friends and I may go this year (too late?), if not definitely next year.
Is it just a case of booking some camping (websites? contact details?), tickets for race arena (website?) then just drive down with a boot full of ?
If im being a dumbass and there is another forum could you forward a link?
Many thanks.
Andy
P.s. I envy all you with convertible TVRs etc in this weather! Being stuck in central london sucks!

Hi Andy,
Have a read through this thread:

If you can get some camp tickets, getting there this year shouldn't be too difficult.
John

You need nothing.
Last year we set off without a thing booked and had no problems at all.
* We bought the ferry ticket at Dover.
* Bought a map of france on the ferry.
* Camped in Parking Green with 1000s of others - which we paid for there.
* Bought the race ticket at one of the gates.
* Bought beer in a supermarket in Arnarge.
Easy. Don't let a lack of early preperation put you off. Just get in the car on the Thursday and go.
Also - take 3 mates in the same car and it'll cost you less than £200 each all in, including fuel, tickets, ferry, food and beer. I was at uni when I started going too.

This is my first year to Le Man. Every year for the last billion years my mate DJFish kept saying "Le Man this years chaps" but we never sorted it out. This year, it was different.....
I booked the tickets back in October, we're (eight of us) are staying at Houx.
Also keep an eye on Chunnel website for cheap "long weekend" deals.
All in all for eight people, two cars and two campsite pitches at Houx came to £108 each. Not a bad price for four days of beer, bar-b-q's, beer and fast cars.
Keep an eye on the PH website and others as they're a source of great knowledge.
Hope this helps a bit!
See you there, fingers crossed....

Got to agree with willdew here, just get off your @rse and do it, no point in putting it off 'til next year.
I've met guys at Le Sarthe who've been going every year since the 50's once you've got the bug you just can't stop. Why wait?
If you want to secure camping before-hand there are tickets available on Ebay.

Just checking the Houx camping tickets out on eBay - are there different types of tickets? From the descrptions given it seems some tickets have designated pitch sites and others are general access and you put your tent wherever you find space - is that right? There's also refernce to "Houx" and "Houx Annexe" - are these the same thing?
Houx and Houx Annex are compettly seperate campsites, they just happen to be next to each other
Houx is the only permanant campsite at Le Mans, with a bar, water, electricity, and brick built showers and toilets, it also has alocated pitch sizes each with an individual number, all the other sites are just fields, some have water, all will have a toilet/shower of some discrption,so you pays your money and takes your choice
