Due to child carrying duties i've got to get rid of my Cayman S grumpy

I've been looking around at various 911's and it seems I can buy a high spec 996 (mabye a 4S)with loads of kit or for similar dosh (2k more approx) a pretty basic 997 carrera (no sat nav etc...) - anyone gone from a 966 to 997? Is the extra money worth it?

Cheers

Matt

997.

Some say the standard 997, with a simple spec., is the pick of the 997 range (new GT3 excepted of course).

While my 996 is off the road i've got a new 997 to play with.

Thoughts:
IMHO, the 997 looks boring compared to my 996.

The 997 interior is *leagues* ahead. If you're used to the Cayman, the 996 will look old.

From what I've read, the 997 is more advanced from a driving point of view. I don't think in real world driving there's a huge difference.

I'd get a 997, unless you want a GT2/3/RS.

Good luck.

can you find a 997 w/o nav module these days? FWIW I would go C4S before 997C2 (surely there would be a £5-10k difference anyway), but 997C2S over any cooking 996

for some reason the base 911s have never appealed to me, although they offer better VFM

997 - better with few options anyway.

If you can afford the 997 then go for it - presumably would be signicantly more than the 996 anyway - even a 4s?
