My Vixen originally had a 1300 splutter splutter engine and iam fitting a modified crossflow in its place. Now the problem, could someone please please give me a couple of dimensions of where the engine should be positioned in the chassis (height + position back from front rail?)

thanks

Hi,

I've got a 1600 S3 and have the following:

Facing the front of the car, the block is sitting slightly to the left (drivers side). Measuring from the upper (front to back) chassis rail to the block where the 4 bolt engine mount casting is, I have 5" left and 6" right to the inner side of the tube.

From the chassis tube that goes left-right directly in front of the engine, I have 5.25" to the timing case from inner side of the tube.

Putting a spirit level at right angles across the rocker cover (tin type) I have 11.25" down to the upper chassis rail.

I have no idea whether these measurements are TVR spec as my car had a Pinto fitted when I got her, I ditched the engine and fitted a crossflow and re-used the pinto engine brackets and mounts. They seemed to fit so I went with it!

If you need any more specific measurements let me know as I have the bonnet off at the moment and it's easy to access.

Hope this helps.

Darren.
