Just wondering what the best place is for memory cards for Digital cameras?

Had a look on ebay, but i really dont trust a lot of the cheap offers.

In a nutshell, off on holiday and for the first time not taking the laptop (usual infinite source of storage for pictures) so the 2 digi cameras need enough capacity for the week (and a trigger happy missues).

She needs the XD card (olympus) and I have the Sony Memory Stick Pro (the long one)

So, where is a good place to get them cheap (and within a week?) and what size do people reccomend, im looking at about a Gig each?

this thread has quite a few places to look. especially on the second page:

www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?p=1&f=109&t=222607&h=0

as per that thread, i have bought from picstop and been very happy. others have found quite reputable ebay sellers.

hope that helps

mymemory.co.uk probably - they're selling '133x' 2GB own-brand cards for £17.99, IIRC. Small-print however shows that that's the read-speed (20Mbps) - the write speed is a slightly more pedestrian 9Mbps (c.60x), which IIRC is comparable to a Sandisk II.

Prices look good

Ive got a 30d - would I benefit by having an extreme 3 vs extreme 4 compac flash card?

I dont know which is the slower (camera or card) ie which is the limiting factor in the equation.

In fact, the old card seems a steal, £30 for 2 gigs, cheap as chips for holiday storage!

I doubt if the 30D can take full advantage of the extreme 3's speed never mind that of the new card.

The only real advantage would be in download times

7 Day Shop is usually competitive but best to buy items under £18 as there's no VAT on them. Delivery is usually a little longer as the items have to come from the Channel Islands.
