Since having a new ECU installed the following items don't function :

1) Remote lock/unlock of doors (via a PA1000 key fob)

2) Both interior courtesy lights (above doors on inside) when doors are opened

3) Front luggage compartment light when bonnet is opened

For the remote door lock/unlock, I have to now lock/unlock them manually with the key.

The PA1000 seems to enable/disable the immobilser/alarm because I can't start the car unless I press the key fob as normal and the LEDs inside the car flash as normal. I do however hear 3 (quite muted) beeps in the carr after some seconds after opening 'disabling' using the PA1000. Don't remember hearing these before.

I've checked all of the related fuses and they all seem fine. Are the items above that aren't working related electrically?

I spoke with Hamilton & Palmer a couple of weeks ago regarding an ECU problem and they stated that the PA1000 system has no interaction with the ECU whatsoever, it's a completey stand alone system.

Seems coincidental that after a new ECU was installed the above stops working.

Any ideas?

Did you recently jump start your vehicle using leads connected to another car?

no, why would that be a possible cause?

If you swap your original ecu back in do these functions re-appear? I wouldn't have expected the ECU to be ANYTHING to do with these things, but i also know the PA1000 has unexpected "side effects" on the Porsche standard wiring...

Haven't tried the other ECU.

Is there any wiring that could have been disturbed around the ECU location that could affect these items? I know that the PA1000 board/box isn't located anywhere near the ECU.

I'm going to guess one of the relays or control units. The central locking control unit is under the RHD seat; is it plugged in properly?

Any ideas if the courtesy lights and the front luggage compartment lights are on the same circuit with the central locking?

I am advised that a surge from a jump start can ruin/overload an ECU. I was speculating that if your ECU had been replaced following a recent jump start than perhaps any surge had bust more than only the ECU. As I say speculation.

Another cause can be that the ECU is not cognisant with the keys and remote fob you have...

My thinking is that we sell mostly Audi cars, and the remote fobs have to be coded to the vehicle via the Audi computer in the workshop, if they are not, the symptoms are very much like your description...

A Boxster we have in stock recently had a new battery and even that meant some resetting work i.e. electric windows would not close etc...

It could mean a trip to your friendly OPC or indy.

No, they're on different fuses.

The PA1000 system is completely seperate to the ECU according to Hamilton & Palmer (the manufacturers). Also, the keys still operate the alarm/immobilser ok. It's just the remote door lock/unlock that doesn't work together with the courtesy lights which should come on when the doors are unlocked from the key fob.

Cheers for the offer. I'll keep that in mind if I can't sort it myself when I'm next with the car (about 3 weeks from now).
