I run Cooper S brakes, with ebc pads(they are crap), my green tag master cylinder is leaking into footwell. so im thinking of changing it to yellow tag...
What are the differences between green tag and yellow tag master cylinder for non servo assisted brakes?
and will changing from green to yellow aid brakes little better like moving more fluid toward to front brakes, anything like that?
but if there is no difference, i just get the same or recondition mine if its bore isnt not pitted? wise idea or not?

the internal seals will be buggered - this is why the brakes are so poor. its a common problem with the green (and yellow) tag cylinders - particually when they are old and even more so if they have been bled with the foot method.
its not economic to sleeve the cylinder as it never seems to work for very long - the repair kits are dear as well.
if you do get the yellow tag cylinder (@120quid) you will need the pipe kit as one union is a big metric one (@20quid)

that master cylinder is the single line type - you could fit it, but would need to repipe your brakes and remove the block think on the bulkhead.
trust me, the repair kit is a waste of time. it only ever works if the master cylinder is n.o.s - the slightest bit of wear and it will fail within six months!

I got later type servo assisted brake setup stored in my garage, it was faulty, not very effiecent as my current brakes.
i liked the pedal feel and space of non assisted servo, i just popped my bonnet open and checked level, and appear be right level. it seem not loosing fluid, although leak is in footwell. could be clutch servo leaking.... bloody minis. lol

The early tandem vertical master cylinders have always been a real pain. I would go to the later combined servo/cylinder as that's a complete cure.
With regard to pads the EBC 'Green' are not all they are cracked up to be in hard use on a Mini with 7.5" discs. The best overall pads for hard use on that type of set-up are the Carbon-Metallic ones from Mini Spares. Ask 'guru' for the part numbers. They last well, work from low temp right up to the point where the discs are glowing red (that's not an exaggeration either!) and are just great. I also use AP600 brake fluid, but that's a full-on racing fluid and a lower grade DOT 4 might be better for road use.

Hi Guys, Minis Just in being painted as I type, and when it gets back it'll be all hands on deck putting it back together before xmas!! If all goes to plan.
I'm trying to finally sought out the brakes, it's running 7.5" discs with 4 pot alloy callipers on the front standard drums on the back for the minute.
I just need to decide what master cylinder to use, as I don't want to let down the 4 pots and the new rear slaves by having the wrong or an old master cylinder, at the moment I think I want a Yellow tag, as I want to stay none servo assisted, any help would be greatfully recieved.
