996 GT3 RS engine and gearbox oil
Discussion
What is the concensus on the type of oil which should be used for the GT3 RS? Is it important to use the oil Porsche recommend, in their case Mobil (one of their sponsors) for the engine, i'm not sure what they use for the gearbox, but I am aware they have a preference? Or does it make no difference using other brands so long as they are of the same type, fully synthetic etc.
In this case I am not referring to top ups but to full oil changes.
I'd be grateful for your opinions.

re gearbox oil, I've got JZs replacement in my car and I'm happy with it. I do know that certain brands apparently make a lot more noise, but no issues with whatever JZ put in. Similar feelings about engine oil. Porsche do have a recommended oil for gearbox though, and I doubt the cost is significantly different if you want to follow their guidelines.
Don't forget the 996 series has a combined diff/gearbox so be careful. Do not use a standard gearbox oil.
Porsche have a special formulation made and there are not many companies that provide it and if you have a warranty, are on their approved UK list.
It is also quite difficult to source outside the OPC network.
Mobil call theirs Mobulibe PTX 75w/90, whhich you can get from County Oil Group for about £170 /20 litres delivered.
Not cheap is it??
