Does anybody know the part number for the Porsche high torque starter for a G50-03?

I've got a IMI 101N that stripped it's 9 tooth pinion in 3 start attempts.
AKA with the ring gear mounted away from the engine and using the stock transaxle mounting point?

You need to check how far the starter engages the ring. Mine only engaged half the width of the ring gear which is not enough to carry the loads during start. I had my transaxle housing machined to set the starter closer to the ring.
The factory can supply replacement pinions.

I'm getting about 2/3 to 3/4 engagement. IMI is sending me a new pinion gear, but if nothing changes, I'm positive it will just do it again.

I've noticed, as have others, that the teeth on the pinion gear are too big and need to filed down to engage properly. I measure the teeth at 4.1mm and the ring gear at 3.25mm. It also needs to be moved into the transaxle 2-3 mm more for full engagement.

In talking with the tech at IMI (people who make the starter), they have never heard of any issues...

At this point I can do a bunch of work to make this sorta work, or buy the Porsche Hi-Torque starter. I would rather just buy the Porsche starter, but I need the part number.

I had to get a replacement starter from factory - it had 10 teeth, replaced the 9 tooth one which sheared the pinion shaft completely.

Yep thats the fix.... as well as being not far enough into mesh its also not deep enough into the teeth, a 10 tooth will cure it or move the starter closer into the centre line of the crank.

This is a known problem, and realy anouying I was pi**ed when I discovered it, and the factory said they had never herd of it before
