I'm looking into getting the Pioneer Avic X1BT installed into a Sagaris. How easy is it to add the rear view camera and how much extra would you be talking for the camera? Also how easy is it to be able to watch dvd's while driving? Obviously not for me but for my passenger as we often do long journeys of 6+ hours and it would be a pain to only be able to watch music videos or films when the car is stopped. Any pointers are good and what would be excellent would be a pic of anyone with it already installed! Thanks

Hi ya, haven't heard from you for a while!!
AVIC in and running with rearview, give me a day or so and I'll post some pics.
Rearview camera mounted on the left side hatch support strut. Couple of tie-wraps at the moment, but may get around to machining a slot at some point.
Fairly tidy, and there it doesn't obstruct your rearview at all.

Have the phone mic installed next to you on the drivers side above the door - at the moment it's up on centre screen by the cabin light, not good for comms.

Nice piece of kit, well pleased with it.

The only piece of the kit that stops you watching anything whilte driving is a switch that fits to the handbrake......just don't fit it!!!! Most aftermarket places don't anyway!

Yellow Perril has something similar from Pioneer fitted, as do I, but mine is in my daily driver.

Ah ok Definitly won't have the switch fitted so!

Hello rpa! Been having a hard time sorting out the sagaris but i'm still trying to climb over all those brick walls Love to see a picture of the camera mounted! Sounds like definitly my best option, it will be good to have a proper sat nav and dvd player as a screen wouldn't fit in the lotus! Thanks for the replies

So do you have the camera mounted inside the car? I just recieved it today and i'm thinking maybe above the rear plate? But i guess it would be perfect inside the rear screen too. But would that give enough of a view of the ground i wonder?

DVD's when driving. If it's anything like my JVC then its a simple wire that connects into the handbrake circuit. Basically you just wire this to earth for DVD's to always work.

It's the same with the reversing wire. It wires to the reversing switch which just goes to earth, so easy enough to add another switch to earth if you want to turn on your rear view camera when driving.

Just got a Sagaris which has an AVIC-X1R fitted. Anyone know how to get the DAB stuff working - do I need another component? Also, do you know if one can get Safety Camera data for the SatNav?

Cheers, Wayne
