its a good ploy by nikon get people to buy the shittest dSLR going and hope they buy a couple of lenses to tie them into the system. if you read up on the camera and phtography your not likely to buy it IMHO

Interesting. What is the high street price (or internet price) likely to be?

I've checked the specs quickly and it says AF only works with AF-S or AF-I lenses as there's no AF drive motor on the camera. Does it mean they have to spend more on those lenses? (Sorry about my ignorance, I have no idea how much Nikon AF-S or AF-I lenses cost!) silly

I got sent an email about the new camera by Nikon.

Personally I think its a mistake. Its resolution is hampered by the need to place it in the hierarchy of models - its a marketing driven product I feel.

Hmmm. If peeps would prefer to obtain a used but not abused D70 this may be good for me. I am hoping Santa will authorise an upgrade. We'll see...

Its not exactly cheap!

A d50 costs <£380 now...

At a glance all I can see that is different to the d50 is a larger screen & prettier display.

It'll drop quickly from its rrp, prob 200-250 a body. It'll realy hurt the prosumer P&S end, considering what canon did with the 300d.

Then people will find they need lenses, expensive lenses, no macro, no short video clips, no live LCD picture display
