Just found the Youtube site and followed the link thru' pisstnbroke which led me to the G12 video.

Did anyone notice that this is not the usual bike east-west fit, which is what I think the Terle's have done down in Plymouth.
This is a north south and it looks like its mated to a Hewland box which makes it very unusual. A real nice looking conversion and must give quite a weight saving.

Does anyone know where this car is?

Yes Dave, www.youtube.com/watch?v=mRAiEoSfHLM&mode=related&search=
If that does not work go to the video clip about Building a G4 and click on more from this person.

This unusual so your view would be welcome.

Oh yeah, I watched that before.

There's not much view of the gearbox or drive chain in the video, so I'm not sure what engine it is.
It does looks pretty tall though, so maybe not a BEC G12, and a car based 4-pot with a short mid-engined longitudinal 'box?

I've emailed the poster of the videos, so maybe I'll get a response...

Its definitely a hewland box Mk8/9 and the engine looks like a Kawasaki, perhaps some of our bike friends can confirm.

I got a reply from them (they look in here occationally)...

It's a Kawazaki bike engine with a gear reducer to mate it to a standard Hewland 'box (they're not sure if it was a 9 though).

You know, what I really would like would be a detailed road impression of a G12, lots of pictures (including the office interior), etc.

How does it compare to a Lotus Elise? The G4 for that matter?

Is the G12 a small GT40? Just wondering since I don't know!

Just saw this compliments of Autoweek--a racing G12 for sale. Didn't ask about the selling price.

20,000 USD. hmm at current exchange rates that makes it exactly £10,104 confused. I'll have half a dozen please

Once again it needs to be understood especially by KASH BIDDLE that Cottage Classics can not make Ginetta G12 or Ginetta G4 or any Ginetta come to that. He is not GINETTA CARS LTD, he is not DARE UK LTD. He has no legal right to produce any new car/chassis body and put a Ginetta badge on it or even to call it a Ginetta. In reality it would be a Spadge Hopkin special, a fake of dubious value. It would not be recognized as a Ginetta by the Clubs Historian/record keeper. His actions may well cause the legal owners of the right of G4/G12 to take legal action against him. Once again I urge an air of caution to anyone promoting Spage Hopkins of Cottage Classics as a manufacturer of a Ginetta G12/G4.

Just looked at the DARE website and saw some nice to build cars at sale; see here;

Ginetta G12 Chassis/Body assembly - White £6,000.00

www.dareuk.com/used_cars.htm

What do you get for your money if you lets say buy that G12 stuff is it only a chassis and a body?

Why not call Dare and find out and then post a reply so we all get to know?

I would guess that's an old page from the way the rest of their site never gets updated.
If it's not though, I'd guess you get a rolling chasis and the body panels, with (hopefully) the windows.
Call them up and ask though, they're a nice bunch.

Just to keep a balanced view on this, I have found Spadge to be an entirely trustworthy businessman and Ginetta enthusiast. Either base criticism on facts that you can substantiate, or leave it alone - it is not fair criticism, in my view.

I have been sitting here in front of the computer wondering what to say!
If I say nothing, it looks like I was making it up and wrong.
But I know what I said is based on true facts and I know that their are many people out there who also know this.
Like many things in life, true facts will always come out in the public domain at some point in time, when it does !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Of course, it might not be so easy to get it binned next time.

Anyone at all concerned about dealing with Spadge after reading this twaddle should speak to the man. Cottage Classics is a successful operation that is based on a genuine enthusiasm for classic British sportscars and sports car racing. As such, it is operating within a very tight-knit community, and any problems would be in the public domain long before now.

As for Mr Winner, he has a history of slinging mud at people without any facts, and continues to hide behind a pseudonym - I suggest the rest of us ignore him and rely on our own judgement about people.
