does the S3 have a odb1 or odb2 connector for car diagnostic software
if not can do i do a fault reading

The Ford EEC-IV injection system doesn't have an OBD connector: OBD-I and II are standardised protocols. The 2.9 engine does have a Ford's own diagnostic connector however: This is a three-way plug located under the passenger side of the dashboard, near the ECU. Gunsons does a fault code reader, and here's a guy selling a controller to make your own: www.graynada.co.uk
However, these tools would be really useful with a list of all the possible fault codes, and that's the thing I haven't found so far!

Re. Fault codes: My Gunson fault code reader came with a list of codes and their meanings. If you want I will try and find it and post on here. Alternatively a Google search for 'EEC IV fault codes' brings up loads of stuff.

Couldn't do it (pdf) but scanned them as jpegs so have them now if any one wants them.
