Hi there, relatively new to all this. I have a Nikon D50 with the kit lens and a sigma 70-300 jobby.
As you can see I am lacking in the 55-70 range, so I was wondering whether it was worth getting the 18-70 and doing away with the 18-55, in terms of the extra bit of zoom, and the quality of the lens.
Alternatively, is there anywhere my money would be better invested - I already plan to get a 50mm prime, hopefully after christmas.

Got identical kit to your's but can't see why getting18-70mm to replace 18-55mm for zoom. But admittly that 18-70mm DX lens is better quality than 18-55mm ED one.

What kind of photography you doing?

Its the 55-70 "gap" that I mean. I am inexperienced at photography, having only had the camera since the summer, so I was looking for a more experienced persons view on whether it was worth swapping, both to fill that "gap", and for any extra quality in the lens.
Thanks for the reply!

If it is zoom gap - don't bother really. What you got is good enough really.

Deffo get 50mm prime, which one? f1.4 or f1.8?

Need to look into it a bit more first... is the 1.4 a big price jump over the 1.8? I take it the DoF will be a bit smaller with the 1.4 - any idea how much? Any other advantages with the 1.4?
I understand the 1.8 is roughly £80, does that sound right?
