Improving night time visibility
Discussion
Fit a pair of new headlights in the form of a Halogen replacement kit and (at least!!) a pair of spotlamps (per Rover Mini Cooper). Goes a long way to sorting out dipped and main beam performance on any Mini.
Original equipment Sealed beam units are useless... might as well have pair of candles strapped to the front

How do gents. There is a thread on here which talks about what you can do. You can get a HID conversion for the later mini headlights, about £250 ish

Whatever you do, don't go for Wipac Quadoptics. More useless lights would be hard to imagine, even with 100/80 bulbs. Lots of light - all in the wrong direction!
However, I fitted Cibie headlights to a rally car I recently built with 100/80 white Xenon bulbs, plus 2 off Cibie Super-Oscars with 100w bulbs and the lights were great. On my 1964 rally car I use Hella heads, again with 100/80 bulbs and 2 off cibie super Oscars with the special convex lenses as fitted to the works Escorts in the 70's. I did put 100w blue xenon in them, but the bluish light made definition difficult in the lanes and forests so i'll change back before I put the car back on the road again.
