I know this has been covered many times but just how invisible are remaps to Porsche diagnostics. I know that alot of maps are invisible to the basic diagnostics and some firms remove the ECU to avoid tripping the flash counters but I have been told that many of the switchable options leave trace codes of modified maps somewhere on the ECU. If you were to have an engine failure under warranty surely Porsche would do more than just a basic diagnostic check on the ECU, like sending the whole unit over to Porsche for analysis and then surely reveal a modified map. Surely even driving a remapped car you would know it was not standard. Sorry for all the questions but I've been thinking about a remap but would want to know the consequences involved if something goes bang.

cheers

If a diagnostic records boost pressures you are rumbled - all mods increase boost from the standard.

I assume Porsche diagnostic equipment detects boost pressure then.

Its simple and has nothing to do with Porsche diagnostics..if any Porsche employee with a tiny bit of experience took the thing for a test drive and its boosting to 1 bar very quickly(instead of 0.6 bar slowly)they would know it had been chipped.

presumably OP is referring to a remap which you convert to stock at a flick of a switch. Reckon it would be very hard to detect and Porsche would only look if something serious went pop.

Tell insurance though

If you're worried about it being detected I'd also remove your full name from your profile.
