I thought I'd stop hi-jacking Steve's thread where we were discussing Land Rover photos and start this thread for it.

Matt, I had a go with that high contrast shot you mentioned for in the trees.

Just how contrasty did you have in mind?

I had a play with simple contrast and came up with...

But I wasn't sure if that was too dark, so had a play with the curves...

I'm not sure if that's a bit blown out though.

Did you considered adding colour by building a bonfire over to the left?

I would say the first one is better...be sure to include the whole car next time round and get the profile bang side on. Also be sure to shoot it from the right height, not too low, not too high. Its all about uniform geometry so try to use an even patch of trees with minimal noise like branches, saplings, crap on the floor etc. Also the focal length of the lens is really important.

Best of luck

I was fully intent on doing the whole Ray Mears thing, but the Military Police kept driving past and giving me funny looks hehe

Thanks, mate beer

I'll have a play...maybe at the end of the week - depends what happens with the wheels - and see what I can come up with

I'll be sure to take tripod too, so I'm not limited on height if I need a longer exposure.

Will report back

Shhhh, don't say that I'll start getting tempted again hehe

No, it's not a V8 unfortunately. I'm only 20 and couldn't afford the fuel costs (or insurance probably). It's a 300tdi...which was what I was after

And thanks very much beer

300tdi is a great engine. Seem to remember they had some gearbox problems on the 300 though, hopefully won't afflict you.

Would have loved a wagon like that when I was still living in the country. Good luck to you and enjoy!

My luck with LRs (and cars in general) in the past hasn't been too brilliant it has to be said.

Unfortunately, the gearbox problems were on the early 300s...which I have, so I'm hoping *crosses everything* that I'll be lucky with this one.

Thanks very much, I'm really pleased to be back in LR ownership. Couldn't be without one now.

beer

Edited to add: You have a lovely car there yourself, I must add. I've been trying to convince my sister to get one

He's not kidding... eek

With my cars current problems I have to confess it did cross my mind that it may have been test driven by Graham at some point and had his luck transferred to it.

Photo looks good. thumbup
When are you going to do that shoot with my/ our cars Graham?

I merely find faults in cars paperbag

As for the shoot, when my health's back up to scratch I think...will make things a lot easier thumbup

I still reckon you'd do well as a test driver for pretty much any manufacturer, by the time you are done with a car it'd be bullet proof. hehe
