I posted a comment on the Ford/Aston Martin bidders thread www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=70&t=323766&p=2
that it would be nice if one of the interested bidders considered investing in TVR. Only for this a--h-le to post the following

Anyone of the 30 interested parties fancy giving the little russian his pocket money back and investing in a really worthy cause?
There are 250 or so hardworking, dedicated but leaderless people in Blackpool who would love the chance to keep TVR alive and British!!!
YP

Those hardworking and "dedicated" people sat on their thumbs and watched DVD's the last few months on the boss's time. While other manufacturers have a workforce that comes up with cars like the 350Z GT-S in their own time. And wasn't the XJ220 a project of "The Saturday Club"? THAT'S DEDICATION my friend...

TVR is going Italy, to a region where there's loads of coachbuilding and engineering expertise, and you better get used to it.

The shame is that I don't think this is a Troll. ranting

It's not even worth getting into an argument about, is it?

Such a deep lack of comprehension.

Trenchtown, jaffacakes. Perhaps we need to have an investigation into the ip adresses used. I'm all for debate, but some of the comments seem a little close to the knuckle.

To be fair it was a silly question to come up with in the first place, so I'm not sure what you expected in response.

Aston has huge prestige at the moment, is in profit and is arguably at the highest point it has ever been in its history, they have great products, a well-renowned workforce and fantastic factory, a waiting list with cars sold-on at profit to do jump the queue. They are active and sucessful in racing at the moment and as the icing on the cake the new bond film is out?

TVR isn't even for sale.

PS. Childish jibes at NS (as seems the norm at the moment) don't frame your question well either.

Don't worry. A-holes are the predominant species in the UK these days, that's why the country is going down the pan.

just because people have different opinions why do people assume they are a troll. Maybe you should broaden your outlook more as to the whole TVR saga, There is to much tunnel vision on here at the moment..

thats a very valid point - just because someone on here doesnt value the TVR brand and workmanship as you do, doesnt automatically make them a troll/enemy...

The world [and PH] would be a dull place if we all had the same opinions on everything..

There are certainly some strange responses, having a bad morning are we?
If you read the thread title first you might realise that the point was the criticism levied against the workforce, which I felt was unfair and yes we are all entitled to opinions but the comment from this person was, in my opinion, unacceptable. Obviously tripps you totally missed the original point or you've got a complete humour bypass, the original post was a light hearted comment regarding the number of intended bidders. Who gives a sh-t about how successful AM are or that TVR are not for sale, how do you know! With your stupid remarks regarding the treatment of NS, I am sure he is big enough to take it, but what about the people who've lost their jobs due to his failure to run the business, you certainly show more concern for his feelings than their welfare! rolleyes

y18tvr - maybe you should read the original thread before making such comment, as above it was the insults from someone in Holland about the workforce and British nationalism and little to do with TVR

I think that you will find that it was the boss's wish, why it happened and no fault of the workforce.

I think your respose to Tripps is a little harsh to say the least.

He made some valid points that expressed the reality of the situation very well.

He is a dedicated TVR entusiast who has owned two cars & is currently considering a third, but he doesnt need me to stick up for him & Im sure he wouldnt want me to - Im just getting a little tired of the bitching on this site, as are many of the people who came on here many years ago & have formed great friendships as a result.

The situation in Blackpool is a tragedy & we all feel for the staff & their families, but the company was shot to bits well before NS came along, perhaps a different management team with better planning & an element of PR would have saved it - but not in its current form, the overheads are just too high.

Another harsh reality based on fact, but obviously not a popular view around here at the moment.

And before you flame me, over the last four years as an owner & RO I have probably convinced at least twenty people to buy NEW cars & dozens to buy second hand from dealers, if thats not supporting the workforce then tell me what is.

I don't believe this to be the case - TVR was a company with great products and potential thanks to PW just requiring a cash-rich buyer to come along and give it clear leadership and investment to take it onto higher levels.

TRENCHTOWN Yes we know the Italians are very nice people good at coachbuilding and also engineering, but don't they eat all morning and sleep all afternoon ? They don't seem to like work over there. If I was a director of TVR I would not just close my eyes and stick a pin in a map of the world, and say that's a good place to take TVR.But,if the pin had stuck in the UK ,let's say somewhere near the end of the M55.. Blackpool, I would say that bloke has got his head screwed on the right way round.Yes,I would agree with most people,a clean sweep out of the management- no exceptions,restructure/downsize,re employ key shop floor workers, reduce model range, build for customer base, map on-going quality, acceptable price entry level .... that's it. judge
