A very very sad day
Discussion
I only heard this morning that yesterday 178 factory workers were to be laid off.
My heart bleeds for these people and the now enevitable end of TVR in Britain.
How pleased am I that I was amongst the 'number' that were at the Blackpool Rally and that we did not go along with those that wanted to have it at a later date.
As it turns out it was just in time.
The Blackpool rally is over, the London Rally will take place but when all this is over there will always be a place in my heart for the workers of TVR, past and present and for what they achieved.
It is of no fault of theirs that the end of the road is now in sight.
At Blackpool the workers showed us their integrity, lack of malice and love of TVR, lets give them the party of a lifetime in London.
They deserve it.

And much much more - well said Brian
Even Scrooge had the decency to ensure Bob Scratchett at least had a good Christmas
It would appear from the latest news that there is little Humanity left within the Cold Walls of Bristol Avenue very very sadly.
We may be unable to have any affect upon the Management or their decisions but at least we can show the workforce that, as owners, we all appreciate the legacy that they, and all those who went before them over the last 59 years, have created for us.
Well said. Indeed these guys do deserve a proper send off, even if that is all the rally provides them.
Some of these guys have dedicated a large %age of their working life lovingly hand sculpting the machines we drool over and deserve the recognition we will give them on the 26th. Lets make it a hell of a meet.

It's a very sad and emotional time for all those connected with TVR, but can I please remind everyone posting to do so without making references to individuals connected with the company. It does not serve any benefit other than venting frustration and anger, and makes life very difficult for PetrolTed and Pistonheads in general. Thanks everyone.
A bit about it here www.blackpooltoday.co.uk/ViewArticle2.aspx?SectionID=62&ArticleID=1871199
I herewith express my very sad feelings towards all the workers and their families. Thank you for all the joy you have created for us during this 59 years of Blackpool Bombers.
I also herewith officially anounce to Mr Small-enski that i Promise NEVER to buy a product of TVR during the time he is in any way involved in the company and i ask my fellow potential and further customers through all this years to state the same. The disrespect shown to all people involved, workers as well as customers, is beyond every sence of humanity and/or commercially responsible entrepreneurship. I hope and expect him to spoil it even more, untill someone will stand up, give him a tip and tell him to F%$CK off. If this happens i will be on top of the list of buyers whatever the new owners chose to build, even if the thing will be powered by a 2-stroke McCulloch-chainsaw-engine that needs 3 rebuilds a year, i will be and remain loyal to the marque that we, unlike the russian kid, have been loving and cherishing for all this years. In the meantime I ordered a 997 Turbo Convertible which will be introduced and delivered next spring.
TVR has survived many adventures already and will also survive this one, but if the little boy remains in charge without me as a customer.
Ted, or any other moderators, i have been driving and buying at least 10 TVR's since more than 15 years and appologise for the way i have to express my feelings, frustration and compassion with the workers and you are more than allowed to hand their lawyers my personal data. My Lawyer is already wating near his fax-machine.

I too will join with you in publicly stating that I will NEVER buy a new TVR again unless built in GB by British owners. The pole on TVRCC also indicates that the majority feel the same.
If you know anyone with a TVR who hasn't signed up for LT2006 - TWIST THEIR ARM, we need every TVR running at this meet to show our true feelings to the staff at Blackpool.

The above posts I'm sure reflect the feelings of all of us. This morning I posted the following on another thread:
'My very, very best wishes to the workforce after yesterday's announcement by the absolutely pathetic management team (we all know who in particular). Guys and gals, we are all thinking of you at this difficult time because we care genuinely about you. TVR's behaviour towards you stinks and may they rot in hell for their unacceptable behaviour towards the special people who built our special cars. IMHO, of course.'
I really find it difficult to come to terms with the fact that for years I have been passionate about what TVR in its totality was about, from all the people in the factory to the cars themselves. PW had his faults, of course, but I met him in the Le Mans TVR pit a couple of years ago just after the propshaft failed on the 2nd car and he was distraught, clearly passionate about the cars. My partner Janet would tell you that my retirement dream in 10 years or so time was to do something at the factory (I live only 10 miles away), or even sell TVRs, because of my passion. NS and his cronies have now driven a stake through the heart of TVR (its workforce), and my passion remains only for the workforce and the cars that they built. I really, really feel for the workforce and I'm not afraid to admit that I have a tear in my eye as I write this. God bless the guys and gals in the workforce and always remember that we are so, so proud of the cars that you built for us and for that we will be eternally grateful to you.

I fully agree with this and , like Infinity, I take full responsibility for this quote which is exactly my thought.

Julian, i feel with you. The problem is that the little boy doesn't give a F$%CK, and therefore he does not deserve any loyalty anymore. Nor form us, the customers, nor from the workforce he has been toying and messing up with for too long now.
I guess that there must be quite a few TVR dealers and their staff feeling the effects of this too. I feel for everyone involved in this (almost) unbelievable situation.

Quite right, they deserve our very best wishes as well if they lose their jobs as a result.

Radio Lancs have just had an interview with the union guy from T & G. He was not a happy chap. They had been assured by TVR management that there would be no one laid off while the consultation period was still on going.

An extract from this report....
"Andy Robertson, T&G regional industrial organiser, said personal undertakings by TVR owner Nikolai Smolenski to the Transport and General Workers Union had been effectively ripped up. He said there was also confusion as to whether or not those who had been told to go home would be paid or not. There were some rumours that people would be paid but that was not what the T&G had been led to believe, added Mr. Robertson."
This, I believe, sums up the trustworthyness of 'The Management' of TVR.
With this attitude I fail to see how he/they can make a success of any business they manage.
Any company is only as good as it's people.
You can only attract and retain good people if you treat them properly.
To do this you must also have good people at the top of the organisation.
I don't believe I need to say more, TVR, in any country, is doomed.
