Just been heading back into blackpool and followed a Mclaren SLR to the factory. The car sounded awesome but I couldn't get a look who was driving. It slowly pulled through the gates and barrier and pulled round the back. I presume it was NS

I saw that SLR last night racing with a blue mini. I don't know who was in the mini but he out drove the thing round the islands. (Any race drivers in Blackpool?)

I heard it was some big nosed surfer-dude, whizzing off to Fleetwood to bother god, got harrased by the "Berk in the merc'" but managed to overtake it twice through judicious use of lanes and roundabouts!
hehe
Well done T'Christian!!

I am, but no chassisesesessss.... what's the plural of chassissessseseses?!?

Don't really know who you'd be best off asking for one either, Cerbera spares are pretty thin on ground these days, it would have to built from scratch and bought through propper channels I' afraid.

O/T: Did you get my email re' the other thread or was the chassis the favour you mentioned? Not exactly the most subtle place to ask. Why don't just come to the gates of the factory ?!please don't eek

No, im afraid I didnt get the email?! Chassis thing has only just come to light, we'll be doing a body off rebuild of the Cerb sometime soon... was just going to ask for advice with dealing with Cov Uni/ portfolio etc etc, thats all. If my email through here doesnt work, try confused__ (double underscore) *at*hotmail.com - didnt want to email you immediately as I understand you're busy.

Thanks DM.

DO and the rest of the clan have access to Niks cars.

So it could have been Nik or any of that lot.

Sorry BCA... over reacted a little there. paperbag

"Is that a Cerbera chassis in your pocket, or are you just pleased to see me?"

I will resend, and we can have a propper conversation.

O/T: Sounds like an involved rebuild. Rusty outriggers? Good luck!

No rush, whenever you're a little less snowed under with work.

Thought it was worth asking if they had any chassis lying about that they didnt want to move... worth a shot. Afraid the outriggers arent a problem, infact, its not too unreasonable to cut them out and weld in new tube, which we have already had done... its the general deterioration of the chassis in general that has prompted it. BIG project, but we will learn about the car, rebuild it so it will not have such problems again and keep another of blackpools finest on the roads. Ours is nearly 10 years old/70k miles old, is used all year round, driven properly, competes at weekends and generally used as PW intended... love it too much to get shot of it!!

There will be a helluvalot of these cars needing such work soon, a real shame... hopefully they wont all be lost. I assume the rustproofing has improved lately, or atleast I sincerely hope so, such fantastic cars deserve to be able to last.

To protect mine, I had the INSIDES of the chassis tubes sprayed professionally with Waxoil and the outsides repainted. I also keep the car away from salt on roads. I realised some time ago that water can drain out and/or evaporate but salt will just rot the steel away. Salt (sodium chloride) boils at 1413 degree Celsius so you would not have much cerb left if you used heat to evaporate the salt! I hope you are sorted for Three Sisters in April - see you there.
