Im not really one for kit threads but:

my spot meter arrived today and has instantly become something i can't imagine living without (photographically speaking). The only other piece of kit which has such a place in my heart is my geared head (sad i know but one you use one there is no turning back).

Took some tests with my 1d using the zone system and the new meter and the resulting exposure was great (even though I am yet to master the technique). Should cut down on film wasteage. Rock and ing roll.

Get one too. You know it makes sense: www.calumetphoto.co.uk/item/361-992D.html

Matt "Happy" Watkinson

edit to add: calumet are losers, i ordered a load of film from them yesterday guaranteed next day...and guess what. It hasnt arrived.

Acutally to make this thread vaguely interesting why dont you share what you cant live without? (Exluding genitalia / sensory organs / stuff you actually need to live, and all the fluffy shit like brotherly love, friends, family, etc.)

You know i ripped off some ebay idiot who thought it was a broken camera or something. Unfortunately these opportunities are few and far between.

My monopod. Holding a 1.5kg 1D and 2.5kg 300mm 2.8 isn't fun.

Oh, and my £17k wheelchair comes in handy to carry it round too

I couldn't live without Shutterstock which gives me an enjoyable reason to go back over the same ground time and again, ever striving to do better than before, the result being I learn something new every week and have a whale of a time shooting simple fruits.

I'm going to pi** Bob off when I say...my tripod Couldn't really do any of my nature stuff without it as cannot hand hold for the length of time it often takes for the animal to
a) get into the right position for the image I want to take
b) stop eating
c) look at me, or do something interesting in terms of behaviour

My Apple computers. Hated computers (and bloody XP!) before I bought an Apple, now I seldom go anywhere without one.

My D200. All the lenses, tripods and stuff wouldn't be much use without it.

Well, if you want to buy me a D2X for Christmas, I shall accept graciously and then post again in this thread afterwards to tell you I just discovered I could actually live without the D200 after all. hehe

If you don't ask, you don't get, hey?

I simply love my pentax spotmeter. I had tried for a while the Sekonic 778 but the pentax is so much better

Matt,
did you already put a zone system sticker on yours? It really helps you to previsualize the scene you are photographing
