Decided to give the car a proper clean and polish today and seeing as I have posted pics of the car here I thought I would
Well actually I took it for a trip around Cheshire first thing just to make sure it was dirty.

I followed one the of the posters on s2ki(Rahula) instructions from his website.
First stage was wash with the crappy flash gun thing and lambswool mitt. The only thing the Flash hose thing is good for is the auto-dry setting and rinsing the car. Dried it manually as well so it was bone dry. Then took the clay bar to it, used the Zaino one with Z6 to lubricate. Then washed the car again with Meguiars Gold Class shampoo. Dried it off then followed the Meguiars 3 step process. Firstly with the Meguiars paint cleaner, followed by Polish then Gold Class Wax. Finished off with their Speed detailer. Cleaned the wheels and waxed them too including using Zaino tyre gloss. Used the Meguiars Glass Cleaner on all windows.

In all it took around 5 hours of bloody hard work. Not bad seeing as I don't really do manual labour

The results:

OK so I didn't hoover it

It looks pretty damn amazing if I do say so myself. The number of blemishes in the paintwork that have now gone has surprised me. So was it worth it. Yes I think so, my neighbours thinker I am certifiable (well more so then they did anyway) However the number of comments from people was impressive.

Now if you can do this well by hand how good would it look if I had one of this porter cable thingies.

Eeerily satisfying work too.

Good job it will be dark at tomorrow's meet so no-one will be able to compare it with my own grubby slice of Pork biglaugh

Now, the challenge is to KEEP it that way, Lee!

Looks amazing. I wish i had bought a black one, rather than the silver one I ended up buying. IMHO black is the best colour for 911's. The only upside to silver is that it looks clean for longer.

Jonny - I looked at loads of silver ones before a black one turned up. Just wish it had sport seats and xenons....... (maybe soon)

LL - I don't have a garage and the car lives under half a forest. So it's unlikely to look like that tomorrow let alone longer I'll try mind.

and get the side vents with ali look fitted (not too expensive from memory) to match the central vents of your small ali pack, really lifts a black dash IMHO
