Just me ?
Well, I suppose we have to start somewhere, but it certainly feels a bit lonely here right now !
As the first 'poster' you have pole position, and now that all those pretty red lights have gone out you'll have to get it off the line......
So, what sort of Porsche do you drive, and how does it compare with previous cars, and do you love it or regret it?

Hi all,
I am undecided what my next car is going to be, but it might be a 964RS or a 993 C2, depends if I can *realistically* afford an Ultima. Or maybe I'll hold out for a Turbo 4!
Anyway, I've owned a 944 cab, a 944 turbo, and have driven a few 911s, so I will be chipping in to the forum as required!
All the best,
Domster

I used to own a 944S2 and have driven a 968.
The 968 is marginally better, but not worth the price differential. The S2 is a very good car.
Turbo S cars are very rare, and are really racing homologation models. I have seen a few up for sale over the years, for fairly silly money. Cheapest was about 27 grand for a german LHD one, most expensive was about 60 grand for a racing prepared one. They are not worth the money - buy a club sport if you must and put in a 944 Turbo SE 250bhp engine. You can tune it to the Turbo S's 300 bhp relatively easily, and you can buy the spoilers/arches needed to complete the effect from Porsche I believe (at great cost).
I don't know why Porsche didn't make more of the Turbo S as I think it's a great car, but I suppose the 911 Turbo was the nail in its coffin...

Hi I've just bought a 1982 944lux and not stopped smilling yet - make my Mkii Golf GTi look a bit boaring now
Good choice; If it is in a good condition I guess you'll have a great time with it.Just make sure the timing belts have been changed regularly

I only joined recently, so have never been to a PCGB regional get-together. Would be interested to hear how you all get on. Enjoy it!
Forgot to put my cars in when I did the earlier post: two 356As, three 928s, and now a 996. Not hugely knowledgeable, but if there's any way I can help anyone please e-mail me (see profile).

Daily basis, and found it excellent on all roads. Because I live in the countryside my shortest journey would be about 20 miles, but frequently used for 100 to 400 mile journeys. Fuel consumption was therefore better than it would be if you lived in a city.
Only fault was roughness in the gearbox after about three years - entirely due to 'forcing' downchanges by left-foot braking and using the accelerator at the same time. My fault!
Service charges were very reasonable, but tyres quite expensive - best on Dunlops (less tyre roar on bad tarmac). This expense obviously depends on how enthusiastically you drive.
I rate the S4 very highly indeed for general use (against five Ferraris, four other Porsches and five Jaguars, all owned before the S4). Perhaps rather large for a city car though!
