987s Wheels

Hi all, just a quick questions...

i'm thinking of putting some new wheels on my boxster s and was wondering whats the largest rims you can get away with? It's running the Carrera 19s at the moment but I want to personalise the look of the car a bit and was thinking a set of wheels would do it.

Any ideas anyone? Any pics of your car with new wheels?

I doubt you'll get much support for the idea. I don't really think putting aftermarket wheels on is a big Porsche thing.

And are you thinking of putting 20" wheels on? Personally, I find 17" to be optimum on most cars for ride quality, and would even go so far as to seriously consider "downgrading" to them from larger rims when next buying a new car.

Having said the above, I do have a soft spot for gold BBS wheels...

Ryan - you may have more success by posting on rennlist, the yanks are in to fitting oversized wheels.

Maybe going an inch up in size isn't ideal. Surely if you keep the size, rolling radius, offset etc of the rim the same, you won't be making the ride or handling any worse, but you also won't be making it better. A lot of the wheels shown above are forged too, so their going to be lighter than original porsche equipment. 19inch is also perfectly adequate and the bigger you go, the more cartoonish looking the car becomes. I personally quite like these, www.rtecalloywheels.co.uk/cargraphic.php#id=cargraphic&num=1 but their pretty expensive I think.
