Just spend all the afternoon playing around with Inkscape and the old Paintbrush as I am too lazy to risk staining the carpet with actual paint... and I am quite happy with the result!

Was going to post them on the "shape" competition but that would be cheating as they stopped being photographs a looong time ago.

When I get some money I may print them on canvas...

Opinions welcome

The GT40 would look great on canvas.

Actually both would, I just prefer that car

You could flog them on ebay quite easily I reckon.

Thanks First time the boyfriend and I agree on the type of art we hung on the walls... the chaps at the canvas place are going to get rich thanks to us! Still have a couple of cars more that I would like to work on, but I need another lazy weekend for that...

Have a look here for tips
www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&t=308728&r=4034528&hm=23431#4034528

I have worked on Paint by hand mostly, so the processing has been quite slow through a combination of tampering with the initial quality of the photo, then tracing the areas in Inkscape and then shaping and colouring by hand and reprocessing to obtain a good finishing quality. Results are mixed depending on the interest of the photo. I did the TVR (below) by request following a similar process and the results are, to my taste, les successful - in this case because the actual image was slightly more "boring" and other types of cars offer different "art-friendly" curves or angles that make the final product much more appealing and allowed me to take a riskier approach without losing the car in it.

Freebie / shareware programme to create drawings on the computer and do Photoshoppy stuff without Photoshop, similar to Gimp.

... this does not clarify it very much me thinks

Hi Roadrunner, sorry I did not reply earlier on. Had a look at your webpage and it looks good, we may do a copy of these babies at some point so may send you an email as we are always keen to try different places. We are skint at the moment so will take a while (while I churn some more car designs)

Hows about doing one for me?? Na seriously i would love to do this in my spare time cos i love seeing a piece of work come together. Not really in the mood right now though im so love sick!

No problem - let me know when you're ready for the canvasses.

I've passed a link of this thread onto a friend / customer who has a real GT40. You may get an interesting commission out of this - I'll let you know !
