How long do your tyres last? I know - how long's a piece of string? But I'm trying to do some financial planning and wonder how much per month I should build in to replace tyres. So - how long have your tyres lasterd, what maker were they, do you drive like a nutter or like Captain Slow?

Put it this way. When I bought my Griff at 10500 miles it was on it's original tyres. I have done another 16000 miles since and the fronts don't look any different. I only changed the rears because I had a blowout.

Groucho stop driving like a pussy, you'll give us griff owners a bad name

I put new Toyos on mine in April and they're knackered already (5k miles) previously running Bridgestones and was getting about 8k out of those with a track day att the end to finish them off.

You should start to think about changing your tyres at 3mm tread depth. The legal minimum of 1.6 is not for the likes of us.

5000 is about the minimum you should be getting and perhaps twice that if driven sensibly. But who wants to drive sensibly. Uneven wear can drastically reduce tyre life so check geometry regularly and tyre pressure at least once a fortnight. Don't think you have wasted your time if the pressure are spot on.

Go to:

www.tyres-online.co.uk/tyretest/tests.asp

to compare various makes and models of tyre. Buy premium 'cause the cars are worth it.

They are probably so hard now after all the heat cycles that they will last forever - no grip but last forever.

Saying that I get about 10k out of the rears and about 15k from the fronts on both cars so it must be down to my pussy driving style as well.

51K so far and just about to order the 4th set of tyres.

Fronts wear at the same rate as rears so I must drive way tooooo slow.
