Getting back into Minidom...
Discussion
Hi Guys
I'm buying a Mini after too many years spent in the wilderness that is large cars etc.
It's going to be used daily (Mon - Fri) for the journey to work to it needs to be reliable, so nothing too modded...
The questions are -
1/ is £2500.00 a realistic sum to buy a decent Mini?
2/ is the SPI reliable
3/ Can you extract 'resonable' performance from the spi lump with a decent exhaust, cam and filter?
Thanks for any comments.

id say 2500 is about right for a decent spi model. the later minis rust for england so check the scuttle for rust or repair, you can normally gauge the condition of the rest of the shell by the state of it.
spi is very reliable. problems are usually caused by fools fiddling with it! the main problems are the relay box on the brake servo (gets water in), vac pipes blocking (or splitting).
a spi with a stage one kit and a set of roller tip rockers will be a nice daily driver. - the mighty minis behave well for what is a fairly standard motor.
the other thing to watch is people fitting non injection clutchs to them, it makes them run like a bag of spanners!
