Rear Diffuser

Hi everyone,

Anybody have an intact rear diffuser that they don't need? I don't mind if it is scratched or needs painting as long as it isn't cracked. Mine is cracked in the left edge and I don't know if it is fixable. May be easier just replacing it.

Is it a tough job to replace the diffuser...some people have mentioned it is a pain but not sure why.

Alex, I think it's straightforward - only that there a 000's of self-tappers to remove and replace!

I've just brought one from the factory, they said that it is simple to do.

It does come only with primer so you have to paint it and I had to buy the heat blanket just in cas I can't get it off the old one.

£191+VAT and £30 something for a meter of the blanket.

New rear diffusers are £197+vat from factory and come in grey primer, so you are probably better off having it repaired.

The Rear diffuser is fairly easy to remove all you need is a posi-drive screwdriver (recommend a electric screwdriver like the Bosch IXOS) and some axle stands or preferably a ramp. Firstly remove the rear grille mesh between the tailpipes (this can be done with the clam open or if you really struggle remove the clam), then just remove all the screws which hold up the diffuser. You will also need to ,remove the back row of screws from the the rear undertray, this is because the rear undertray also screws into the rear diffuser. Once all screws are removed just pull the diffuser out towards the rear by about 1&1/2 inch and then it will drop down.

The heat blanket is made by Thermo tec and their products can be found on the demon tweaks website in the motorsport section under engine tuning. They also do this amazing copper exhaust pipe wrap (2"x100ft) which REALLY cuts the heat down in the engine bay. I covered my whole exhaust system (apart from back box), and double layered the CATS and I've noticed a Massive difference in the temp of the intercooler, now I can actually touch it and the box without burning myself!

Thanks guys. Sounds reasonably straight forward but I have no means of getting the car on a ramp or the rear up in the air. I may have to take it somewhere for this lot to be done.

This copper thermal wrap sounds intriguing too
