Any chance of a public Q & A session with TVR management/NS..
After the slanging he's got from the PH collective, why the hell would he even want to...?
To have the chance to defend himself maybe?
Defend himself against what..?
PW intorduced the SP6 and the current crop of cars, he then sells out following the boom years of the Chimaera, Griffith and Cerbera - ignoring customers demands for a V8.
NS buys the company, and before the man has even set foot in Bristol Avenue, the TVR community is up in arms about how useless the Russian will be and nicknaming him "Moleskins". He continues to throw money at the company, comes up with ideas, but is universally denounced. His ideas may not have been the best, but the rest of the management didn't seem to do much to steer things in the correct direction.
He bought into a sinking ship, that has been deserted by its "loyal customers" who are overly rose-tinted about the previous generation of cars, and is then confronted with the "I told you so" and general derision across the board.
As I said, why the hell would he want to open a dialogue...
Edited for speeeling.

Exactly,
Couldn't add any more to that.
Regards,
James Sim.
Guys - the company has entered a 90 day consultation period. Nobody from the company (management) could talk to anybody other than the elected consultancy commitee even if they wanted to. Technically this 90 days has to be used to "explore" possible ways of keeping the factory open. Once/if the commitee agree with management that the factory must close they then move on to sort out redundancy terms.
Nothing NS says surprises me anymore. He may even make another U turn.

If only because it is free publicity, and to pour oil on troubled water.
Not only was he the only person prepared to buy the company, but he has been constantly throwing cash at it ever since.
Ironically, he is probably the only person who could save the company, cos no one else is willing to spend on it like him.
He just needs to be pointed in the right direction, cos he seems to have lost his map.

Pat - nicely re-capped
No one appears to have given the guy a chance, but everyone seems more than willing to point the finger of blame at him, and manage the company from their armchair...
I'm desperately disappointed by the turn of events, and really don't want to see TVR move from Bristol Avenue, but I'd rather see the marque live on abroad than vanish completely.

Speculation, speculation..

Any chance of a public Q & A session with TVR management/NS so we can at least try and see through all this fog? Maybe at Blackpool? if they really cared for the 'supporters' of TVR maybe they would offer 'us' some open dialogue..!

Lol. Yes, next week G. Richard (Rick) Wagoner Jr. from GMC will be on here to discuss the possibilities of the Blue Devil/Z07R in RHD, then after that Honda President Takeo Fukui is going to sign up and contribute to the Civic Type R thread, then as a final part of the CEO Quadrilogy Dr. Wendelin Wiedeking will give the definitive answer to the boggle "Does a Carrera4S get you laid?".
November will be a hell of a month....

I didn't realise that all the above mentioned SME's were in such deep sh.it. as TVR? Wow, must be catching.

GMC are in deeper shit if you think about it.
Except they (reportedly) cut their losses by 90%...
That's still a hell of a lot of shit though mate.
True... and a lot more pain to come, I fear. As a whole, the motor industry is a tough place to be, and Detroit is finding it particularly difficult having rested on their laurels for too long.

No 'fraid not. He was simply the only interested party crazy enough to buy a multi million pound company without Due Diligence.

Not judging by the amount of debt owed to the suppliers, bank etc. Remember the carbon Tuscan that he commisioned - he never paid up.

Not convinced he ever had one.
One thing I am convinced of tho - there has been so much change of direction/lack of information/promises (new cars at Motor Show etc)/misinformation, that this is not the end of the story.
There'll be twists and turns, U-turns, general snorts of disgust, derision and finally, hopefully, a happy ending.
So whenever I read anything remotely resembling news and TVR in the same sentence, I am applying the following simple rule :- Stick a bloody great IF in front of it.
I bought my 2nd hand Chimaera as an introduction to the marque - in essence to see if I'd like it. I do, and will buy a new one when I have confidence in the company, dealerships, warranty etc.
But until then, why the hell would I want to buy a ticket on a ship with no rudder, an unaproachable Yes Man Captain and an owner who can't decide where the next port of call is.
oh yes - do you have anything stronger Podie said:

Well how about the way in which the company has represented itself in the press over the past few months. i.e We're moving out of Blackpool (staff start to sweat !), no we're not we're staying in Blackpool and moving to a purpose built factory (staff open the champagne bottles), actually we've changed our mind again and we're relocating abroad and you're all redundant (and a merry xmas and happy new year to all our staff).
I agree NS and the management have little to defend themselves against the wider TVR community, but they certainly do towards the staff. Playing yo-yo with your staffs emotions is simply not on.
Many people have and continue to express their disappointment and disgust at the way in the which the staff have been treated throughout this sorry saga - this does nothing for brand loyalty.

I think one of NS major faults when buying TVR is that in a way, he followed in Martin Lilleys footsteps and did so out of pure enthusiasm, the only difference is that during Martin Lilleys reign, it was an easier time to sell cars and he knew what they wanted relatively early on.
NS seems to have had the balls and the money, but not much of an idea of what people wanted and the fact that he wanted to build eleventy million cars a year just goes to point out that he wanted to make TVR something which its not.
It is (was) a low volume performance car manaufacturer and the intention should've been to try and increase production, but concentrate on the important things like what the future owners want.
It sounds to me that too many people have been giving their opinion (Oxly bunch????) of what they think TVR should offer and what they think owners want, but no-one actually went out of their way to ask their market!!
Im still truely gutted that they're planning a foreign move and although its only my opinion, I think it will damage the brand (although for it to live on would be nice) as its like Ferraris being hand crafted in the luxurious Longbridge plant!
If Smolenski really wanted to save the brand, he should open himself to the enthusiasts, fans and owners to listen to their plans for the future and be prepared to spend a bit more money getting those things in order.
Either way, the guys at the Bristol Avenue facility are going to be out of work, but it would be fantastic to see NS make good on all his promises and maybe give the guys their jobs back in the not too distant future!
Hindsight is a wonderfull thing though and hope is something I do a lot of

As I understand it, a consortium headed by someone who actually had experience making cars was in the process of going through Due Diligence when NS basically whipped it out from under their noses with a cash offer.
Of course, we have no way of knowing if said consortium would have then gone on to buy it or whether Due Diligence would have turned up enough crap to make them do a Monty Python King Arthur.
