First,

I have recorded on the camera in widescreen mode. It plays on a tv in WS but both Windows movie maker and the Motion DV studio (OEM kit) only seem to want to import it in 4:3 and hence it looks squashed and crap.

I have just spent an hour installing Pinicle Studio 8 and that can't even see the camera!! It just says, "Please restart windows, turn cam off and on or unplug and re-plug the firewire (I'm using USB)

Please help as I need to get this video edited asap.

Many thanks.

Greg

ps. I wish I had not given my copy of Adobe Premier to a friend and never got it back before installing it myself!! banghead

Premiere definately would have been best

I have a feeling that the DV Studio does *somewhere* have an option to import or change the video to another ratio... but other than that I can't really help
Pinnacle Studio is OK for these things, but if it's not picking up the camera straight away it is usually better moving on to the next bit of software in my experience hehe.

Someone might turn up here to recommend something.
And I for one have always wanted to know if I can get Windows Movie Maker to snap out of it's 4:3 obsession.

G'luck! thumbup
Dave.

Thanks UD,

Had a good look but can't seem to find it. Most of what I've shot was on a bullet so thats in 4:3 anyway. The rest will just have to look squished!

Thanks anyway.

I will be getting adobe premier I guess.

Change the pixel aspect ratio, if there is such an option.

Found it in the end in WMMaker. It was in tools, but you can't change it all till you're saving the finished movie. Then you can pick either 4:3 or 16:9 for it all. Looks better with the 4:3 stuff stretched rather than the 16:9 squashed.

Thanks chaps.
